“Start with God—the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.” Proverbs 1:7 MSG
I have a confession: I don’t know everything. Though I do a lot, I don’t know how to do everything. I still need help or guidance within doing all the things that I do. You’re probably wondering why this is a confession at all since no one knows everything, right? It has to be said though to help put things in perspective.
The truth of the matter is none of us knows everything, only God does. When I can admit that I don’t know everything, it puts me in a place of vulnerability and gives me the opportunity to go to God who knows everything about everything. I’m more apt to ask God for help or for wisdom for my life and in my various relationships and interactions with other people.
When I think about God, I like to start at the beginning- how God created the heavens and the earth. He took chaos and put it in order. It’s so fascinating to look outside and see the trees, the blue sky and the mountains and realize that no one else has made these but God. I love to see the beautiful ocean and being in awe of God at how He created it and put a limit to it, having the ocean stop at the shore. Only God could do that. I see no one else taming the ocean.
When I see all that God has done and still does now, I find that going to Him as my Help and Source for everything is the best thing I could ever do. He’s God, I am not. He has wisdom. I need wisdom. One thing I pray a lot for is wisdom. God gives it freely when we ask Him for it (James 1:5). That’s how I learn to do what I can do for anything because He gives me wisdom. So, for all that you are facing and doing, where should you begin? Start with God.
